Job summary

Barloworld Equipment is seeking a skilled auto-electrician to perform repairs and maintenance on Earthmoving Equipment. The role includes on-site service, component removal/installation, and ensuring safe work practices across customer sites.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of post-qualification experience with Caterpillar electrical systems, strong troubleshooting skills, and familiarity with reporting tools. Valid driver’s license is essential for fieldwork.

Qualifications

• Must have completed Grade 12 and a relevant auto-electrician trade qualification.
• Minimum 5 years’ post-qualification experience on electric/electronic systems on Caterpillar machines.
• Sound knowledge of safety rules and mining operations.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities in electrical/electronic systems.
• Machine-specific technical knowledge and ISO quality systems exposure.
• Good technical report writing and strong computer literacy.

Responsibilities

• Carry out auto-electrical repairs and maintenance on Earthmoving Equipment in workshops or on customer sites.
• Remove and install auto electrical components.
• Ensure safe work practices at all times.
• Respond quickly to customer auto electrical breakdowns and diagnose faults.
• Maintain professional image when representing Barloworld Equipment on customer sites.
• Compile accurate customer service reports and parts lists for machine repairs.
• Practice effective self-management and performance ownership.
• Comply with contamination control requirements.
• Manage own admin including labour booking, service reports, parts returns, and expenses.
• Maintain field service vehicle and equipment.
