Job summary

Careermine is seeking experienced underground Maintenance Trainers for a 6:3 roster on a new project in Senegal. You will train and support national personnel, targeting safe, efficient maintenance of large mobile equipment and automation systems in a dynamic mining environment.

Ideal candidates have a strong underground hard rock mining background, 5+ years post-apprenticeship experience, and an appropriate Heavy Diesel Equipment certification.

Qualifications

• Strong background in underground hard rock mining (essential).
• At least 5 years post apprenticeship experience in underground mining on large mobile equipment.
• Trade Certification III or IV in Heavy Diesel Equipment.

Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled servicing to mobile equipment safely and per procedures.
• Mentor, coach and develop national trades personnel.
• Utilise skills to minimise downtime on machinery.
• Record and report maintenance activities accurately.
• Maintain high housekeeping in workshop and working areas.
• Read and interpret service and spare parts manuals.
• Report equipment faults for scheduling into weekly workshop plan.

Job description

We are seeking experienced underground Maintenance Trainers to work on a 6:3 roster at our newly appointed Project in Senegal, West Africa. With a strong focus on training the national workforce. Located in West Africa, our client is a large-scale gold mining operation with a strong focus on safety, production performance, and workforce development. Candidates will be working in a multicultural environment with a mix of expatriate and national employees, supporting ongoing underground expansion and production targets.

Duties involved in the role:

• Carry out scheduled servicing to mobile equipment in a safe manner and in accordance with procedures, regulations, and the relevant service sheets.
• Mentoring, Coaching and Developing National trades personnel.
• Utilise skill and experience to create minimum downtime on machinery.
• Ensure correct recording and reporting of maintenance is achieved.
• Maintain a high level of housekeeping in workshop and working areas at all times.
• Read and interpret Service and Spare parts manuals.
• Report all equipment faults to the Maintenance Foreman for scheduling into the workshop weekly planning.

Our ideal candidate background includes

• Strong background in underground hard rock mining (essential)
• At least 5 years post apprenticeship experience working within the underground mining industry on large mobile equipment.
• Trade Certification III or IV in Heavy Diesel Equipment.

• Strong background working with latest generation SANDVIK, CAT and Atlas underground mobile equipment and associated automation systems.
• High degree of knowledge and skill in troubleshooting problems on electric hydraulic drilling equipment.
• Self-starter who will work with minimal supervision.
• Excellent service and maintenance approach to the job.
• Manual Drivers Licence and the ability to obtain an International Driver's Licence.

• Experience in Africa or other developing regions highly regarded
• Ability to adapt to rostered expatriate lifestyle Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Proven experience training personnel to a high standard.
