About the Role

Our client, a rapidly expanding technology firm with a significant presence in Pretoria, Gauteng , is seeking an Associate General Counsel with a specialization in Regulatory Affairs. This role is vital for ensuring the company navigates the complex and evolving regulatory landscape effectively. You will be responsible for monitoring regulatory changes, advising on compliance strategies, and managing interactions with regulatory bodies. The position is based in our modern Pretoria headquarters, operating on a hybrid work model that balances in-office collaboration with remote flexibility. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of South African regulatory frameworks relevant to the technology sector, coupled with excellent analytical and advisory skills. This is a strategic role where you will play a key part in shaping the company's compliance and risk management strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor, interpret, and advise on all applicable regulatory requirements impacting the company's operations in Pretoria and beyond.
• Develop and implement compliance programs and policies to ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
• Represent the company in interactions with regulatory agencies and authorities.
• Conduct risk assessments related to regulatory compliance and propose mitigation strategies.
• Prepare and submit regulatory filings and reports accurately and on time.

Requirements

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa with a minimum of 6 years of experience, with a substantial focus on regulatory law.
• Proven experience advising on compliance with South African regulatory frameworks (e.g., POPIA, CPA, ICASA regulations).
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulations and provide clear, actionable advice.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills for interacting with regulators and internal stakeholders.
• Experience in the technology sector is highly preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively in a hybrid work environment.
• Strong drafting skills for policies, procedures, and regulatory submissions.
