Kendrick Recruitment is seeking a technically skilled and hands-on Assistant Technical Manager to join a luxury safari property in Hluhluwe, KwaZulu-Natal. This live-in opportunity is suited to a practical and experienced maintenance professional who can assist with the smooth running and upkeep of all technical aspects of the property.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Technical Manager with the day-to-day maintenance and technical operations of the property.
Ensure all buildings, facilities, equipment and infrastructure are maintained to a high standard.
Conduct regular inspections and identify maintenance requirements proactively.
Assist with preventative maintenance programmes and scheduled repairs.
Troubleshoot and attend to electrical, plumbing, mechanical and general maintenance issues.
Supervise and assist with maintenance staff and daily task allocation.
Coordinate with external contractors and service providers where required.
Ensure maintenance work is completed efficiently, safely and to the required standard.
Assist with maintaining accurate maintenance records and reporting.
Monitor maintenance stock, tools and equipment.
Support compliance with health and safety requirements.
Work closely with lodge management to ensure minimal disruption to guests and daily operations.
Requirements:
Previous technical or maintenance experience, preferably within a luxury lodge, safari property, hotel or similar hospitality environment.
Strong practical knowledge of general maintenance.
Electrical, plumbing, mechanical and carpentry experience would be advantageous.
Previous supervisory experience would be beneficial.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
A hands-on approach with excellent attention to detail.
Good organisational and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
A valid driver's licence would be advantageous.
Ability to live and work in a remote safari environment.
