Assistant Technical Manager | Luxury Safari Lodge | Hluhluwe, KZN

Kendrick Recruitment is seeking a technically skilled and hands‑on Assistant Technical Manager to join a luxury safari property in Hluhluwe, KwaZulu-Natal. This live‑in opportunity is suited to a practical and experienced maintenance professional who can assist with the smooth running and upkeep of all technical aspects of the property.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Technical Manager with the day-to-day maintenance and technical operations of the property.
• Ensure all buildings, facilities, equipment and infrastructure are maintained to a high standard.
• Conduct regular inspections and identify maintenance requirements proactively.
• Assist with preventative maintenance programmes and scheduled repairs.
• Troubleshoot and attend to electrical, plumbing, mechanical and general maintenance issues.
• Supervise and assist with maintenance staff and daily task allocation.
• Coordinate with external contractors and service providers where required.
• Ensure maintenance work is completed efficiently, safely and to the required standard.
• Assist with maintaining accurate maintenance records and reporting.
• Monitor maintenance stock, tools and equipment.
• Support compliance with health and safety requirements.
• Work closely with lodge management to ensure minimal disruption to guests and daily operations.

Requirements:

• Previous technical or maintenance experience, preferably within a luxury lodge, safari property, hotel or similar hospitality environment.
• Strong practical knowledge of general maintenance.
• Electrical, plumbing, mechanical and carpentry experience would be advantageous.
• Previous supervisory experience would be beneficial.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
• A hands‑on approach with excellent attention to detail.
• Good organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• A valid driver's licence would be advantageous.
• Ability to live and work in a remote safari environment.

Salary: Dependent on experience
