Job summary

The VKB Group’s Bethal Cold Rooms is seeking a proactive Assistant Manager to support daily operations, supervise staff and coordinate storage and handling of agricultural produce, with a focus on potatoes. You will work closely with the Cold Rooms Manager to ensure service standards, safety, and efficient warehouse planning.

We value hands-on leadership, strong customer relationships, and the ability to balance operational and administrative duties in a dynamic storage environment.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate is required.
• Experience in warehouse, storage or cold room operations.
• Experience in staff supervision and people management.
• Strong customer service and relationship management skills.
• Ability to operate in both operational and administrative environments.
• Experience in the potato industry is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support the management and daily operations of the cold room facility.
• Assist with warehouse and storage space planning.
• Coordinate storage and handling activities to optimize operational efficiency.
• Supervise and manage employees within the facility.
• Maintain effective customer relationships and stakeholder engagement.
• Assist with operational reporting and administrative functions.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures, safety standards and operational requirements.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within the facility.
