Job summary

African Echoes Recruitment is sourcing an Assistant Maintenance Manager for a 5-star luxury game lodge in Pilanesberg National Park, North West. You will plan and execute maintenance projects, oversee staff and ensure efficient operation of the facilities.

The role requires strong project management and leadership skills, with oversight of HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems. Onsite accommodation is provided, and the position reports to the Maintenance Department.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4–5 years of experience in a 4/5-star hotel or lodge.
• Matric (Grade 12)
• Electrical Trade Certificate
• Bachelor’s degree, diploma or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, Facilities Management or related field
• Relevant HVAC, Electrical or Plumbing certifications advantageous
• Wireman’s Licence preferred
• Strong project management, facilities maintenance and team leadership experience

Responsibilities

• Coordinate maintenance and repair work with Operations departments to required 5-star standards
• Conduct employee performance reviews and assess maintenance staff competency
• Maintain and update Maintenance department operating and training manuals
• Ensure maintenance staff are trained on current operating procedures
• Monitor and review equipment and systems to minimise downtime and identify improvements
• Maintain and repair maintenance workshop equipment
• Maintain clear service records for all lodge equipment
• Prepare reports, analyse data and recommend improvements
• Programme door locks and electronic safes
• Ensure maintenance technicians are trained, equipped and motivated
• Maintain regular communication with maintenance staff
• Assist with recruitment and selection of maintenance personnel
• Initiate projects to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs
• Track and improve maintenance parameters including asset utilisation, maintenance costs and preventative maintenance compliance
• Maintain safety, health and environmental policies and procedures
