Job summary

African Echoes Recruitment seeks an experienced Maintenance Manager for a 4/5-star hotel or lodge in Pilanesberg, North West. You will coordinate maintenance, lead a team, ensure compliance with safety policies and drive improvements across systems and equipment.

The role requires 4–5 years in hotel maintenance, relevant trade certs and a strong background in facilities management. Onsite accommodation is provided, with a focus on efficiency and service excellence.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4–5 years’ experience in hotel or lodge maintenance.
• Bachelor’s degree, diploma or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, Facilities Management or related field.
• Electrical/plumbing/HVAC certifications are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate maintenance and repairs to meet 5-star standards.
• Conduct staff performance reviews and assess competency.
• Maintain and update maintenance manuals and SOPs.
• Ensure staff are trained on current operating procedures.
• Monitor equipment and systems to minimise downtime and optimise efficiency.
• Maintain workshop equipment and service records.
• Prepare reports and analyse data for improvements.
• Program door locks and electronic safes.
• Recruitment and selection of maintenance personnel.
• Lead cost-saving projects and track asset utilisation.

REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum 4–5 years’ experience in a 4/5-star hotel or lodge
• Matric (Grade 12)
• Electrical Trade Test Certificate
• Bachelor’s degree, diploma or higher certificate in Mechanical, Electrical, Facilities Management or related field
• Relevant HVAC, Electrical or Plumbing certifications advantageous
• Wireman’s Licence preferred
• Strong project management, facilities maintenance and team leadership experience

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Coordinate maintenance and repair work with Operations departments to required 5-star standards
• Conduct employee performance reviews and assess maintenance staff competency
• Maintain and update Maintenance department operating and training manuals
• Ensure maintenance staff are trained on current operating procedures
• Monitor and review equipment and systems to minimise downtime and identify improvements
• Maintain and repair maintenance workshop equipment
• Maintain clear service records for all lodge equipment
• Prepare reports, analyse data and recommend improvements
• Programme door locks and electronic safes
• Ensure maintenance technicians are trained, equipped and motivated
• Maintain regular communication with maintenance staff
• Assist with recruitment and selection of maintenance personnel
• Initiate projects to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs
• Track and improve maintenance parameters including asset utilisation, maintenance costs and preventative maintenance compliance
• Maintain safety, health and environmental policies and procedures
