Job summary

Kendrick Recruitment is seeking a polished Assistant Lodge Manager to join a luxury private game reserve in the Eastern Cape. This live-in role supports the Lodge Manager and oversees Front Office, Housekeeping and F&B operations to deliver five-star service.

The ideal candidate holds a Hotel Management Diploma and 2–4 years in a supervisory role within a luxury setting, with strong guest relations skills. Proficiency in Excel and lodge software is preferred.

• Hotel management Diploma or equivalent required.
• 2–4 years in a supervisory role within a 5-star lodge.
• Strong guest relations and hosting skills; Butler experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support the Lodge Manager with daily lodge operations.
• Oversee Front Office, Housekeeping and F&B operations.
• Conduct regular housekeeping checks to uphold five-star standards.
• Supervise restaurant service before and during meals.
• Ensure staff deliver world-class guest experiences.
• Manage guest check-ins, check-outs and special requests.
• Arrange additional services and supplies as needed.
• Communicate issues and improvement ideas to senior management.
• Assist with stock counts, reporting and admin duties.
• Uphold SOPs and brand standards across all departments.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Lodge Manager with the daily operation of the lodge
• Oversee Front Office, Housekeeping, and Food & Beverage operations
• Conduct regular housekeeping checks to ensure five‑star standards
• Supervise restaurant operations before and during meal services
• Ensure service staff deliver consistent, world‑class guest experiences
• Manage guest check‑ins, check‑outs, and special requests throughout their stay
• Arrange additional services and supplies as requested by guests
• Communicate operational issues, variances, and improvement ideas to senior management
• Assist with stock counts, reporting, and administrative duties
• Uphold lodge SOPs and brand standards across all departments

Minimum Requirements

• Hotel Management Diploma, Certificate, or equivalent qualification
• 2–4 years’ experience in a supervisory or management role within a 5‑star lodge or luxury hospitality environment
• Strong guest relations and hosting skills, with Butler experience advantageous
• Good knowledge of Food & Beverage Service, Housekeeping, and Front Office operations
• Computer literacy, including intermediate‑level Excel
• Knowledge of Lightspeed, Sage Evolution, and Protel advantageous
• Valid driver’s licence preferred
• Strong attention to detail, organisational ability, and customer‑focused approach
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
