Qualifications

• Grade 12 is required.
• 2–3 years' housekeeping management experience or similar hospitality role.
• Ability to coordinate and lead the housekeeping team.
• Strong communication skills and self-discipline.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day housekeeping operations according to standards and senior management directions.
• Carry out regular inspections of laundry, public areas and lodges.
• Lead, support and develop housekeeping staff.
• Brief teams at the start of each shift with duties and information.
• Maintain high standards of appearance and professionalism among staff.
• Maintain cleanliness, hygiene and sanitation in guest lodges and public areas.
• Report repairs and maintenance issues to relevant departments for action.
• Provide on-the-job training to develop staff capabilities.
• Respond promptly and courteously to guest needs and requests.
• Address guest complaints promptly and escalate as needed.
• Conduct monthly linen stock takes and maintain linen stock and consumables.

Job description

Duties

• Ensure that the day-to-day operations of the housekeeping department are carried out according to company standards and as specified by senior management.
• Perform regular inspections of the laundry, public areas, and lodges.
• Manage, support, and assist housekeeping personnel as required.
• Ensure that all housekeeping personnel are briefed on their daily duties and any other departmental information at the start of each shift.
• Lead by example in appearance and personal hygiene, ensuring that all housekeeping personnel on shift are neat and professional in their respective uniforms.
• Ensure that the cleanliness, hygiene, and sanitation of guest lodges and public areas are maintained at all times in accordance with company standards.
• Ensure that all repair and maintenance issues are reported to the relevant departments and that appropriate action is taken.
• Provide on-the-job training to ensure that personnel continue to develop and improve.
• Maintain a positive attitude and a courteous, professional demeanour at all times.
• Anticipate and respond to all guest needs promptly, efficiently, and courteously.
• Ensure that any guest complaints are resolved promptly, efficiently, and courteously, and brought to the attention of senior management.

Requirements

• Grade 12.
• Preferably 2–3 years' previous housekeeping management experience or experience in a similar role within the hospitality industry.
