Job summary

Alpha HR Group invites applications for an Assistant Farm Manager role overseeing a 60-hectare table grape production unit. You will work closely with Senior Management and the Owner, gaining practical exposure to all facets of production, farm management and personnel oversight.

The position offers long-term career growth with increasing responsibility as experience and competency develop and a strong focus on hands-on leadership in agricultural operations.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years practical experience in table grape and/or fruit production
• Tertiary education in Agriculture is advantageous
• Strong leadership and people-management abilities

Responsibilities

• Assisting with the daily management of a 60-hectare table grape production unit
• Planning and monitoring production activities
• Manpower planning and personnel management
• Supervising permanent and seasonal employees
• Planning and managing irrigation
• Planning and implementing fertilisation programmes
• Coordinating and supervising chemical spraying programmes
• Monitoring crop development, health and production
• Maintaining records of production, irrigation, fertilisation and spraying activities
• Monitoring farm activities and ensuring compliance with procedures
• Effective utilisation and management of farm implements and equipment
• Working with Senior Management to achieve production targets
• Gradually taking on increased responsibility as experience develops

An excellent opportunity is available for an ambitious and energetic Assistant Farm Manager with a passion for table grape production and a strong desire to build a long-term career within the agricultural industry.

The successful candidate will work closely with Senior Management and the Owner for the first 12 years , gaining practical exposure to all aspects of production, farm management and personnel management.

This is a long-term career opportunity for an individual who is eager to prove themselves. Based on performance, development and progression, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to eventually take responsibility for managing their own production unit .

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Assistant Farm Manager will be responsible for, among other duties:

• Assisting with the daily management of a 60-hectare table grape production unit
• Planning and monitoring production activities
• Manpower planning and personnel management
• Supervising permanent and seasonal employees
• Planning and managing irrigation
• Planning and implementing fertilisation programmes
• Coordinating and supervising chemical spraying programmes
• Monitoring crop development, general plant health and production
• Maintaining accurate records of production, irrigation, fertilisation and spraying activities
• Monitoring farm activities and ensuring compliance with procedures
• Effective utilisation and management of farm implements and equipment
• Working closely with Senior Management to achieve production targets
• Gradually taking on increased responsibility as experience and competency develop

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• A Tertiary Education in Agriculture but will be advantageous
• 3-5 years practical experience in table grape and/or fruit production will be a strong advantage
• A genuine interest in agriculture and production management
