Job summary

Bidvest Protea Coin is seeking an experienced security operations professional to manage armed response providers and oversee supplier performance across regions. The role emphasizes strong contract management, stakeholder engagement, and adherence to PSIRA requirements.

You will lead a team, coordinate incident responses, and ensure compliance with company policies while driving continuous improvement in protection strategies and supplier performance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in security operations, with at least 3 in a supervisory/managerial role.
• PSIRA Grade A registration advantageous.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel.

Responsibilities

• Oversee armed response service providers across regions of operation.
• Monitor SLAs to ensure contractual compliance.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and audits of armed response suppliers.
• Address performance issues, incidents, or breaches with service providers promptly.
• Coordinate and track armed response deployments during security incidents.
• Review and evaluate response times, escalation procedures, and incident handling.
• Ensure suppliers follow company security policies, SOPs, and safety protocols.
• Maintain records of incidents, response reports, and supplier activities.
• Act as the main point of contact between the company and all armed response suppliers.
• Liaise with internal departments, management, and external stakeholders to coordinate security operations.
• Provide regular reports and updates on armed response effectiveness to senior management.
• Recommend improvements to strengthen armed response strategies.
• Research new suppliers, technologies, or methods to enhance response capabilities.
• Support training initiatives for supplier personnel where required.

Supplier Management:

• Manage and oversee all armed response service providers across regions of operation.
• Monitor service-level agreements (SLAs) to ensure contractual compliance.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and audits of armed response suppliers.
• Address performance issues, incidents, or breaches with service providers promptly.

Operational Oversight:

• Coordinate and track armed response deployments during security incidents.
• Review and evaluate response times, escalation procedures, and incident handling.
• Ensure suppliers follow company security policies, SOPs, and safety protocols.
• Maintain records of incidents, response reports, and supplier activities.

Risk & Compliance:

• Ensure all service providers comply with PSIRA and other regulatory requirements.
• Conduct risk assessments related to armed response coverage and identify gaps.
• Develop and enforce escalation protocols in line with company policy.
• Ensure proper firearm handling, licensing, and safety compliance by suppliers.

Stakeholder Engagement:

• Act as the main point of contact between the company and all armed response suppliers.
• Liaise with internal departments, management, and external stakeholders to coordinate security operations.
• Provide regular reports and updates on armed response effectiveness to senior management.

Continuous Improvement:

• Recommend improvements to strengthen armed response strategies.
• Research new suppliers, technologies, or methods to enhance response capabilities.
• Support training initiatives for supplier personnel where required.

Preferred qualifications/attributes/skills:

• Previous Armed Response management experience preferred.
• Grade 12 / Equivalent (minimum).
• PSIRA Grade A registration (advantageous).
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in security operations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory/managerial role.
• Strong knowledge of security supplier management and armed response procedures.
• Experience in contract management and supplier performance evaluation.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel.
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills
• A working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Google Earth);
• Bilingual (English and any other South African language)
• Good interpersonal and customer relations
• Ability to work independently and under pressure
• Willing to work extensive hours as and when required
• Willing to work after hours and be on standby
• Clean disciplinary, criminal and credit record
• Experience of implementing Quality Management Standards
• The ability to manage and deliver projects, draft and implement policies and influence senior stakeholders
• Experience of working with control room systems
• Analytical and quality focused – able to produce accurate management information
• Excellent presentation and IT skills are required
• Target and KPI focused yet able to deliver whilst maintaining employee engagement
• Excellent people and performance management skills: motivate, coach, develop, inspire and ability to identify training needs
• Experience of successfully leading teams to constantly achieve company objectives
• The ability to communicate with all levels, from senior management to operational staff;
• Firearm competency
