Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Produce detailed architectural drawings, construction documents, and specifications for high-rise residential projects using BIM software.
• Ensure all technical designs comply with the National Building Regulations (NBR) and relevant South African standards.
• Collaborate closely with architects, engineers (structural, mechanical, electrical), and contractors to coordinate technical aspects of the design.
• Conduct site visits to verify existing conditions and monitor construction progress against technical documentation.
• Assist in the preparation of tender documentation and Bills of Quantities.
• Resolve technical queries and design issues that arise during the construction phase.
• Research and recommend appropriate building materials and construction systems for high-rise residential developments.
• Maintain accurate and organised project documentation, including drawings, reports, and correspondence.
• Support the architectural team in developing innovative and practical design solutions.
• Participate in design review meetings and contribute technical expertise.

Requirements

• National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Architectural Technology or a related field.
• Professional registration with the South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP) as an Architectural Technologist is required.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience as an Architectural Technologist, with a significant focus on high-rise residential projects.
• Proficiency in BIM software, particularly Revit, is essential.
• Strong knowledge of the National Building Regulations (SANS 10400) and other relevant South African building codes.
• Excellent technical drawing and documentation skills.
• Good understanding of construction methods, materials, and structural principles for multi-storey buildings.
• Ability to work effectively within a hybrid work model, demonstrating strong communication and collaboration skills.
