Job summary

Sirius Engineering Co. invites applications for an Architectural Internship based in Paarl. The role supports recent graduates to gain practical experience under seasoned architects, contributing to live industrial projects while pursuing SACAP candidacy.

You'll work closely with senior professionals, build a robust portfolio, and be mentored through design development, documentation, and coordination activities in a hands-on office setting.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Architecture from a SACAP-accredited institution.
• Registered, or eligible to register, as a Candidate Architect / Candidate Architectural Technologist with SACAP.
• Proficiency in industry-standard design software (Revit, AutoCAD) and the Microsoft Office suite.
• A strong design portfolio demonstrating creativity and technical understanding.
• Familiarity with building regulations and construction documentation is advantageous.

You’ll work alongside experienced architects and industry experts on live, multidisciplinary projects, contributing to world-class industrial facilities while building the practical experience needed towards your professional registration with SACAP.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Documentation

• Assist in the preparation of concept, design development, and construction documentation drawings.
• Support the production of 3D models, renders, and presentation material for client and design team review.
• Contribute creative design input under the mentorship of senior architects and industry experts.

Project & Team Coordination

• Coordinate inputs and information between the architectural, engineering, and project management teams.
• Assist with the compilation of specifications, schedules, and tender documentation.

Site & Client Exposure

• Attend site visits and design meetings alongside senior team members.
• Assist in monitoring construction progress against approved drawings and details.

Professional Development

• Log practical experience towards SACAP candidacy and professional registration requirements.
• Participate in mentorship sessions and ongoing training provided by the design team.

Requirements

• A recognised degree or diploma in Architecture (BAS, B.Arch, or equivalent) from a SACAP-accredited institution.
• Registered, or eligible to register, as a Candidate Architect / Candidate Architectural Technologist with SACAP.
• Proficiency in industry-standard design software (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD) and the Microsoft Office suite.
• A strong design portfolio demonstrating creativity and technical understanding.
• Familiarity with building regulations and construction documentation will be advantageous.
• Experience with digital coordination and collaboration platforms (e.g., ACC/BIM 360) will be advantageous.

Renumeration

A market-related internship stipend will be offered, befitting the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Contract Description

The successful candidate will be based full-time at our offices in Paarl for the duration of the internship.
