About the Role Our client, a respected architectural practice serving the **Northern Cape**, is seeking a dedicated Architect to focus on public infrastructure and community facilities. This role is vital for designing and delivering projects that enhance public spaces and improve the quality of life for residents in **Upington** and surrounding areas. The ideal candidate will have experience or a strong interest in designing public buildings, such as community centers, libraries, clinics, and educational facilities, as well as related public realm improvements. You will work closely with government bodies, community stakeholders, and engineers to bring socially impactful projects to fruition. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural design of public infrastructure and community facilities, from conceptualization to completion.
• Develop functional, accessible, and aesthetically pleasing designs that meet the needs of diverse user groups.
• Prepare detailed architectural drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
• Coordinate with various engineering disciplines and specialist consultants.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and stakeholder expectations.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant South African building codes, accessibility standards, and public procurement regulations.
• Engage with community members and local authorities to gather input and ensure project buy-in.
• Conduct site visits and provide construction administration services.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) degree or equivalent.
• A minimum of 5 years of professional architectural experience, with a focus on public or community-oriented projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant design software.
• Understanding of public procurement processes and relevant South African legislation.
• Experience with designing educational facilities, healthcare buildings, or public amenities is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

• Registered Professional Architect with the South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP).
