About the Role

Our client, a key airport operator, is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Airport Operations Specialist to join their team in Upington, Northern Cape . This on-site role is essential for the smooth and efficient functioning of airport activities. You will be involved in a variety of tasks supporting daily operations, including coordinating with airlines, ground handlers, and other airport stakeholders, monitoring airport facilities, and assisting in the management of flight movements and passenger services. The ideal candidate is organized, possesses strong communication skills, and has a basic understanding of airport operations and aviation procedures. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic airport environment and contribute to the seamless operation of a vital transportation hub. You will work closely with experienced professionals to ensure a high level of service delivery and operational excellence. This role requires your presence at the airport premises during operational hours.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the coordination of daily flight schedules, ensuring on-time performance.
• Liaise with airlines, ground handling agents, and other service providers to facilitate smooth operations.
• Monitor airport facilities and infrastructure, reporting any issues or required maintenance.
• Support the management of passenger flow, security, and baggage handling processes.
• Assist in responding to operational disruptions or emergencies.
• Maintain accurate records of airport activities and operational data.
• Provide support to flight crews and passengers as needed.
• Ensure compliance with airport regulations and safety procedures.
• Undertake other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the operations department.

Requirements

• A relevant qualification in Aviation Management, Logistics, or a related field is advantageous.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in an airport or aviation-related environment.
• Good understanding of airport operations and aviation terminology.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and under pressure.
• Basic computer proficiency, including MS Office Suite.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
• Must be legally eligible to work in South Africa and reside in or be willing to relocate to the Upington area.
