Job summary

Placements24 in East London is seeking a highly analytical Aircraft Stress Analyst to join our engineering team. This hybrid role combines on-site collaboration with design and manufacturing, and remote capability for complex analysis and reporting.

You will perform detailed stress analyses using FEA tools (NASTRAN, PATRAN, ANSYS), validate against loads and fatigue, and develop analytical models while applying FAR/EASA standards. Experience with composites is advantageous.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering with a structures specialization.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in aircraft stress analysis or related field.
  • Proficiency with FEA software (NASTRAN, PATRAN, ANSYS).
  • Solid understanding of materials science, mechanics of materials, fatigue, and fracture mechanics.
  • Experience with composites and damage tolerance analysis is advantageous.

  • Validate structural designs against aerodynamic loads, operational stresses, and fatigue life requirements.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly analytical Aircraft Stress Analyst to join their engineering department in East London . This hybrid role requires a deep understanding of structural mechanics and the ability to perform rigorous stress analysis on aircraft components and assemblies. You will work on ensuring the structural integrity and safety of aircraft designs, utilizing advanced computational tools and methodologies. This position offers a blend of on-site collaboration with design and manufacturing teams, alongside remote capabilities for complex analysis and reporting, contributing significantly to the development and certification of new aircraft or modifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform detailed stress analysis on aircraft structures and components using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software.
  • Validate structural designs against aerodynamic loads, operational stresses, and fatigue life requirements.
  • Develop and refine analytical models to accurately predict structural behavior under various loading conditions.
  • Interpret and apply aerospace standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., FARs, EASA CS-25) to structural designs.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to optimize structures for strength, weight, and manufacturability.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports documenting analysis methods, results, and conclusions.
