Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Aircraft Stress Engineer to join its structural engineering team in Queenstown, South Africa. You will perform detailed stress analysis on airframes and components using advanced FEA methods to ensure safety and airworthiness.

The role requires a strong background in structural mechanics, experience with FEA tools such as NASTRAN and ANSYS, and the ability to interpret technical drawings and reports for certification submissions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering with a structural focus.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in aircraft structural analysis or stress engineering.
• Proficiency in FEA software and solid understanding of structural mechanics and materials science.
• Experience with aerospace loading conditions, fatigue analysis and fracture mechanics desirable.
• Ability to read technical drawings and specifications accurately.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed stress analysis on aircraft structures and components using FEA software.
• Develop and validate structural models with correct boundary conditions and load cases.

About the Role

This role is central to ensuring the structural integrity and safety of aircraft by performing detailed stress analysis on airframes and components. You will utilize advanced finite element analysis (FEA) techniques and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to predict structural behavior under various load conditions. The ideal candidate possesses a strong theoretical background in structural mechanics and practical experience in aerospace stress analysis, contributing to the safety and airworthiness of flight structures.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform detailed stress analysis on aircraft structures and components using FEA software (e.g., NASTRAN, ANSYS).
• Develop and validate structural models, applying appropriate boundary conditions and load cases relevant to aircraft operation.
