Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Aircraft Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Technician to maintain and repair a fleet of GSE at our Stellenbosch facility. This hands-on role ensures safe, efficient ground services that support flight operations.

You will perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on tugs, loaders, and power units, keeping detailed records and working with a range of diagnostic tools. A trade qualification and 2–3 years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in mechanical, electrical, or diesel engineering.
• 2–3 years of GSE or heavy equipment maintenance experience.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Valid drivers license and ability to obtain airport permits.
• Excellent problem-solving and strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and servicing on all GSE.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Aircraft Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Technician to maintain and repair their fleet of specialized vehicles and equipment at their facility in Stellenbosch . This hands‑on role is critical for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of ground services that support flight operations. You will be responsible for the preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of a wide range of GSE, including tugs, loaders, and power units. This is an essential position within our client's operational infrastructure, contributing directly to the seamless functioning of their aviation services.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and servicing on all GSE according to manufacturer and company guidelines.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic equipment and technical manuals.
• Repair and replace faulty components, ensuring all GSE meets safety and operational standards.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance, repair activities, and parts inventory.
• Operate a variety of GSE safely and efficiently.
• Respond promptly to repair requests and ensure minimal downtime for critical equipment.

Requirements

• Trade qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Diesel Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a GSE technician or in a similar heavy equipment maintenance role.
• Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems in vehicles and machinery.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and interpreting technical schematics.
• Valid driver's license and ability to obtain relevant airport permits.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong work ethic.
