Placements24 seeks Aircraft De-icing Technicians for our client's seasonal team at Port Elizabeth Airport. You will safely apply de-icing fluids to aircraft surfaces, working under weather pressures to maintain flight schedules and passenger safety.

Responsibilities include operating spray trucks and cherry pickers, inspecting surfaces, and coordinating with crews. Candidates must be fit, adaptable to outdoor winter conditions, and able to follow safety protocols accurately.

Qualifications

About the Role

Our client, operating at Port Elizabeth Airport , is seeking dedicated and physically capable Aircraft De-icing Technicians to join their seasonal operations team. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient application of de-icing and anti-icing fluids to aircraft surfaces to ensure safe flight operations during adverse weather conditions. This position requires individuals who can work effectively under pressure, in challenging weather environments, and adhere strictly to safety procedures. You will be an essential part of maintaining flight schedules and ensuring passenger safety during the winter months, contributing to the operational success of the airline.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate specialized de-icing and anti-icing equipment, including fluid spray trucks and cherry pickers.
• Apply de-icing and anti-icing fluids to aircraft wings, fuselage, and control surfaces according to precise specifications.
• Monitor weather conditions and aircraft operational needs to determine the appropriate timing and type of fluid application.
• Inspect aircraft surfaces for ice, frost, or snow contamination before and after fluid application.
• Communicate effectively with flight crew and ground personnel to coordinate de-icing operations.
• Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, operating procedures, and environmental regulations related to fluid handling and application.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
• Valid driver's license and ability to operate heavy machinery/vehicles.
• Physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors in cold, wet, and windy conditions.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, based on operational demands.
• Ability to follow instructions precisely and work effectively as part of a team.
• Previous experience in ground handling, heavy equipment operation, or a similar role is advantageous.
