Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Control and direct air traffic movements within assigned airspace, including ground, tower and approach control.
• Issue clearances, advisories and instructions to pilots to ensure safe separation of aircraft.
• Monitor radar displays and surveillance equipment to track aircraft positions and intentions.
• Communicate with pilots via radio, providing flight information and updates.
• Coordinate air traffic flow with adjacent sectors and ATS units.
• Manage emergency situations and provide assistance to distressed aircraft.
• Maintain accurate records of air traffic activities and incidents.

Requirements

• Valid Air Traffic Controller License issued by the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) or equivalent international certification.
• Relevant ratings for tower and approach control.
• Minimum of 3 years of proven experience as an Air Traffic Controller in an operational environment.
• Thorough knowledge of air traffic control procedures, regulations, and aviation terminology.
• Demonstrated ability to perform under high-pressure, time-critical situations.
• Excellent communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong situational awareness and multitasking capabilities.
• Proficiency in using air traffic control systems and associated equipment.
