Placements24 seeks a vigilant Air Traffic Controller to manage aircraft movements in the Cape Town region from a modern control center. You will ensure safe, orderly, and expeditious traffic flow, coordinating with pilots and other control units while responding to incidents.

The role requires excellent decision-making under pressure, ICAO and SA regulations knowledge, and the ability to work shifts including nights and weekends to support 24/7 operations in Cape Town.

Qualifications

• Must hold SACAA Air Traffic Controller license.
• Completion of accredited ATC training program.
• Experience controlling traffic in busy terminal or en-route environments.
• Thorough knowledge of ICAO standards and South African aviation regulations.
• Excellent situational awareness and decision-making under pressure.
• Proficient in English aviation phraseology.

Responsibilities

• Control and manage air traffic movements within assigned airspace sectors, ensuring safety and adherence to procedures.
• Issue clearances, advisories, and information to pilots to maintain safe separation.
• Monitor radar displays and flight progress strips to track aircraft positions and intentions.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Control and manage air traffic movements within assigned airspace sectors, ensuring adherence to established procedures and safety standards.
• Issue clearances, advisories, and information to pilots to maintain safe separation between aircraft.
• Monitor radar displays, flight progress strips, and other relevant information systems to track aircraft positions and intentions.
• Coordinate effectively with other air traffic control units, including adjacent sectors, approach control, and ground control.
• Manage the flow of air traffic to prevent congestion and optimize the use of airspace and airport resources.
• Identify and respond to potential conflicts, emergencies, and non-compliance situations, taking appropriate corrective actions.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of aviation regulations, procedures, and meteorological conditions.

Requirements

• Possession of a valid Air Traffic Controller license issued by the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA).
• Successful completion of an accredited Air Traffic Controller training program.
• Demonstrated experience in controlling air traffic in a busy terminal or en-route environment.
• Thorough knowledge of ICAO standards and recommended practices, as well as South African aviation regulations.
• Excellent situational awareness, decision-making capabilities, and ability to perform under high-pressure conditions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in English aviation phraseology.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and collaborate with colleagues.
