Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an AI Ethics and Safety Officer for a role in Mahikeng, North West. The role focuses on developing guidelines to ensure AI bias, fairness, transparency, and accountability, with a hybrid work model that combines in-office collaboration and remote work.

You will lead risk assessments, work with AI teams to embed ethics into design, monitor for bias and unintended consequences, and deliver training on AI ethics.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
• 3+ years of AI ethics, AI safety, or related area.
• Strong understanding of AI/ML and societal impact.
• Knowledge of ethical frameworks and bias mitigation.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement AI ethics and safety policies and frameworks.
• Conduct risk assessments for AI systems, identifying potential ethical and safety concerns.
• Collaborate with AI development teams to integrate ethical considerations into design and development.
• Monitor AI systems for bias, fairness, unintended consequences.
• Develop and deliver training programs on AI ethics and safety to employees.
• Stay informed about evolving regulations, standards, and best practices.
• Advise management on AI ethical and safety matters.
• Investigate and report on AI ethics and safety incidents.
• Contribute to the company's external communications on responsible AI.
• Promote a culture of ethical awareness and responsible innovation within the organization.
