Placements24 is seeking an AI Ethics Advisor in Upington to guide responsible AI development and deployment. You will collaborate with legal, engineering, and product teams to embed ethical principles across initiatives.

You will review projects, develop policies, and conduct trainings to advance fairness, transparency, and privacy. Strong advisory, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in Ethics, Philosophy, Law, CS, or related field with focus on technology ethics or AI.
• Experience advising on AI ethics, responsible AI, or technology governance.
• Strong understanding of AI/ML principles and societal implications.
• Knowledge of ethical frameworks, bias, fairness, accountability, and transparency in AI.
• Familiarity with legal and regulatory requirements for AI and data privacy.
• Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to translate complex ethical concepts into practical guidance.
• Experience in stakeholder engagement and facilitating discussions.
• Prior experience in tech/innovation-focused environments is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert advice and recommendations on ethical issues related to AI development and deployment.
• Review AI projects to assess ethical risks and mitigation strategies.
• Develop and refine AI ethics policies, guidelines, and best practices for the organization.
• Conduct training sessions and workshops on AI ethics for employees.
• Stay informed about evolving AI ethics research, regulations, and industry standards.
• Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to ensure adherence to ethical and regulatory requirements.
• Facilitate discussions and workshops to address ethical dilemmas in AI projects.
• Contribute to development of responsible AI frameworks and tools.
• Serve as a point of contact for internal stakeholders seeking guidance on AI ethics matters.
• Advise on strategies for bias detection and mitigation in AI systems.
