Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an enthusiastic Agricultural Extension Officer to serve farming communities around Paarl. You will help transfer research-based knowledge and best practices to farmers, boosting productivity, sustainability, and livelihoods through hands-on guidance and demonstrations.

The ideal candidate has a degree in Agriculture or related field, experience in extension services, and excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

• Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Rural Development, or related field.
• Experience in agricultural extension services or farmer training.
• Strong understanding of Western Cape farming systems and crops.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.

Responsibilities

• Educate farmers on modern techniques, crop cultivation, pest management, and post-harvest handling.
• Provide practical advice and demonstrations on sustainable farming practices.
• Facilitate farmer field days and workshops to promote new technologies.
• Assess community needs and relay feedback to research and development units.

Key Responsibilities
