Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an energetic Aftercare Program Coordinator & Educator in East London, Eastern Cape, to run afterschool activities, assist with homework, and supervise children in a safe, welcoming environment.

You will plan diverse programs, liaise with parents and school staff, and ensure smooth sign-in/out and records while fostering a positive atmosphere after school hours.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years working with children in aftercare or similar setting.
• Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate activities.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and lead engaging aftercare activities for children of various ages.
• Provide homework assistance and ensure completion of assignments.
• Supervise children's play and ensure safety and well-being at all times.
• Develop and implement creative projects, games, and educational programs.
• Manage the aftercare space, ensuring it is clean, organized, and well-equipped.
• Communicate effectively with parents regarding participation, progress, and concerns.
• Liaise with school administration and teachers to understand student needs and policies.
• Manage daily sign-in/sign-out procedures and attendance records.
• Respond to emergencies and administer basic first aid if required.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment for all children.
