Job summary

The Boys and Girls Clubs of San Leandro seeks a Youth Development Professional for an after-school program at a middle school site. You will create a safe, engaging environment and mentor youth to support academic and social-emotional growth.

This part-time, on-site role runs Monday–Friday 1:00–6:00 PM PT, follows the school-year calendar, and offers hands-on experience with a diverse team and meaningful impact on youth.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old to work with middle school youth.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Safety: Provide a safe, nurturing, and structured environment for all youth.
• Engaging program facilitation: Plan and lead after-school activities for about 20 students.
• Lesson planning & classroom management: Develop plans for diverse learners and manage behavior.
• Daily routine oversight: Oversee lessons, play, breaks, and meals with smooth transitions.
• Progress tracking & communication: Monitor participation and share updates with the team.
• Classroom organization: Maintain a clean, organized, well-equipped space.
• Mentorship & relationships: Serve as a positive role model and foster inclusivity.
• Team collaboration: Work with colleagues to reach program goals and support other sites.
