Job summary

Department of Health at Chris Hani Baragwanath Laundry seeks a laundry worker to operate tunnel machines, manage loading and cleaning of linen, and monitor washers. The role requires basic qualifications and up to two years’ experience in laundry settings.

Qualifications

• NQF Level 3 or Grade 11 qualification or equivalent.
• 0-2 years laundry worker experience in hospital or factory setting.
• Ability to operate laundry equipment and follow procedures.
• Willing to rotate shifts and work under pressure; be a team player.
• Wear protective clothing and liaise with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Ensure correct water level, air pressure and steam supply before operating the Tunnel Machine.
• Clean tumble dryers and surrounding areas; load and monitor conveyor belt; load soiled linen.
• Maintain loading scale; monitor the clean linen and release from dryers to next point.
• Unblock tunnel washer; supervise resources; monitor pumps and detergents.
• Complete work orders; report disturbances or malfunctions.
