Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate a Code 10 heavy motor vehicle for long-haul and regional freight transportation.
• Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections, documenting any defects or maintenance needs.
• Ensure the accurate and efficient loading and unloading of various types of cargo, including hazardous materials where applicable and trained.
• Plan and execute daily routes, considering traffic conditions, delivery windows, and fuel efficiency in the Western Cape .
• Maintain meticulous records of deliveries, mileage, fuel consumption, and adherence to driving hour regulations.
• Communicate effectively with the logistics team, customers, and roadside assistance when necessary.
• Uphold the highest standards of safety and compliance with all national road transport regulations.
• Provide exceptional customer service during delivery and pick-up interactions.
• Perform minor on-the-road maintenance and troubleshooting as needed.
• Proactively identify and report potential hazards or operational inefficiencies to management.
• Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of the vehicle, reflecting Our client's commitment to professionalism.

Requirements

• Valid South African Code 10 driver's license.
• Valid Professional Driver's Permit (PDP).
• Minimum of 5 years of demonstrable experience in professional driving, specifically with heavy-duty vehicles.
• Thorough understanding of freight handling procedures and cargo securing techniques.
• Knowledge of South African road networks, particularly within the Western Cape .
• Ability to read and interpret delivery manifests, route plans, and regulatory documents.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Physical stamina for manual handling of goods and long hours of driving.
