RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will be responsible for, amongst others:
Administrative Support & Communication
- Supporting the Unit Manager and farm management team with relevant, accurate and timely information to support effective decision-making.
- Acting as a key liaison between the production unit and Head Office.
- Managing and coordinating a small administrative team to ensure that the administrative requirements of the production unit are met efficiently.
Finance & Operational Administration
- Capturing and reporting operational and crop production information, including irrigation and crop applications.
- Monitoring operational activities and ensuring that weekly and monthly deadlines are met.
- Managing inventory and stock information relating to production inputs, including diesel, chemicals and fertiliser.
- Overseeing creditor-related processes.
- Capturing, processing and reporting expenditure against approved budgets.
- Maintaining records relating to infrastructure, fleet and housing repairs and maintenance requirements.
Wages & Human Resources Administration
- Managing accurate recordkeeping and reporting of employee time and attendance information.
- Supporting the onboarding of new employees, including contracts, inductions and the capturing of employee information.
- Maintaining health and safety administration and supporting compliance with relevant policies and procedures.
- Assisting with ethical, environmental and food safety compliance requirements.
- Organising and coordinating worker, health and safety, and other relevant committee meetings.
- Coordinating logistics for worker and community training, meetings and development initiatives.
- Providing administrative support during disciplinary processes.
REQUIREMENTS
- Grade 12 with a relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar administrative, operational support or management role.
- Proven experience working with payroll and financial systems.
- Strong administrative, data capturing and reporting skills.
- Excellent organisational and time-management abilities, with strong attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across different levels of the business.
- Strong computer literacy and the ability to manage information across various systems.
- Experience within the agricultural sector will be advantageous.
This position will suit a hands‑on, organised and detail‑oriented individual who is comfortable operating in a fast‑paced agricultural production environment and supporting both operational and management functions.
