Placements24 is seeking an Addiction Support Specialist in Mossel Bay to provide compassionate counselling and direct support to individuals battling addiction. You will develop recovery plans, connect clients with resources, and offer ongoing encouragement to promote sobriety and healthier futures within the Mossel Bay community.

The role emphasizes one-on-one and group counselling, case management, and collaboration with a dedicated team to drive client success.

Qualifications

• Certification or degree in addiction counselling, social work, psychology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working with individuals with addiction issues.
• Strong knowledge of addiction theories, treatment modalities, and recovery principles.
• Excellent counselling, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental approach.
• Proficiency in case management and record-keeping.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one counselling and support to individuals with substance use disorders.
• Develop and implement individualized recovery and treatment plans.
• Educate clients and their families about addiction, its effects, and recovery processes.
• Facilitate group therapy sessions and support groups.
• Assist clients in accessing rehabilitation services, healthcare, and social support systems.
• Monitor client progress, provide encouragement, and address any challenges encountered during recovery.
