Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Substance Abuse Counselor to support individuals and families in Mahikeng. The role involves assessing clients, developing treatment plans, and facilitating therapeutic sessions aimed at recovery and sustained sobriety.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field.
• Registration with a relevant professional body (e.g., HPCSA).
• Proven experience working as a Substance Abuse Counselor or similar role.
• In-depth knowledge of addiction theory, treatment modalities, and recovery principles.
• Strong therapeutic, communication, and active listening skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments to diagnose substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.
• Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients, setting realistic recovery goals.
• Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions, utilizing evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
• Provide psychoeducation on addiction, relapse prevention strategies, and healthy coping mechanisms.
• Maintain accurate and confidential client records, documenting progress and treatment outcomes.
