Qualifications

• Matric (Grade 12) with Mathematics and Physical Science, or N2/N3 Engineering Studies (Electrical or Mechanical).
• Must meet MERSETA / QCTO apprenticeship entry requirements.
• Prior workshop or practical exposure is an advantage.
• Mechanical and/or electrical aptitude.
• Basic hand-tools and measuring skills.
• Ability to read simple drawings (advantage).
• Strong attention to detail.
• Willing to learn and takes instruction well.

Responsibilities

• Help artisans with preventive maintenance, breakdown repairs and installations on production and utility equipment.
• Carry out allocated tasks safely and to standard under supervision; record work on job cards and in the CMMS.
• Keep tools, workshop and work areas clean and organised.
• Follow LOTO, permit-to-work, PPE and food-safety rules at all times.
• Complete the logbook, workplace modules and institutional training required by the MERSETA / QCTO apprenticeship programme.
• Prepare for and pass the trade test within the programme timeframe.
• Take part in improvement activities such as 5S, root-cause and PM improvement.
