Job summary

University of Fort Hare seeks an Accounts Controller – Finance to maintain accurate financial records and manage day-to-day accounting duties in Pretoria. The role supports month-end close, reporting and strong financial controls.

The ideal candidate will hold an accounting or finance qualification with 2–5 years’ experience, proficiency in Excel, and familiarity with Pastel or QuickBooks. Experience in a coal mining environment is a plus.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Accounting / Bookkeeping qualification will be advantageous.
• Relevant professional certification will be an advantage.
• 2–5 years’ experience in accounting or related finance role.
• Experience with accounting software / ERP systems (Pastel or QuickBooks) and reconciliations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records and process accounting transactions.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable.
• Complete reconciliations and support month-end, reporting and financial control activities.
• Assist with year-end procedures as required.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
