Job summary

Sydsen seeks an experienced Accounts Controller to join our Head Office finance team in Pretoria. You will maintain accurate financial records, process transactions, manage AP/AR, and support month-end and financial reporting.

The role requires a Diploma or Degree in Accounting/Finance, strong Excel skills, and extensive reconciliation and month-end experience. Experience in coal mining is advantageous; you will report to the Finance Manager and assist with audit documentation.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Accounting/Finance required or advantageous.
• 25 years experience in accounting, bookkeeping, AP/AR or similar finance role.
• Strong reconciliation and month-end experience.
• Strong Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Process customer and supplier invoices, credit notes and payments
• Perform bank, supplier, customer and general ledger reconciliations
• Follow up on outstanding customer balances
• Verify supplier statements and resolve discrepancies
• Assist with month-end and year-end reporting
• Monitor expenses and cash flow
• Assist with audit documentation
• Support the Finance Manager with accounting-related queries
