Job summary

Employment Solutions is seeking an Accounting & Reporting Specialist to elevate financial reporting and governance within a prominent FMCG retail group in South Africa.

The role combines technical IFRS expertise with hands-on reporting responsibilities, including monthly, quarterly, and annual closes, VAT and BBBEE reporting, and system improvements. You'll mentor junior staff and partner with business units to drive insight.

Qualifications

• Qualified CA(SA) with up-to-date IFRS knowledge and reporting experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.

Our client, a prominent player in the retail and FMCG sectors known for innovation and growth, is seeking a seasoned Accounting & Reporting Specialist ready to elevate financial operations and reporting standards.

Duties

• Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Compile information for statutory reports, including VAT, tax, and other regulatory filings.
• Develop and maintain financial reporting templates, dashboards, and analytical tools to improve reporting efficiency and insights.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives in financial systems, reporting accuracy, and operational processes.
• Collaborate with various business units to analyse financial results, identify trends, and provide actionable insights.
• Assess financial risks and offer commentary on performance and deviations from budgets or forecasts.
• Support audit processes by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and ensuring compliance.
• Mentor junior accounting staff to develop their reporting capabilities and understanding of internal processes.
• Prepare and analyse information for BBBEE reporting requirements.

Requirements

• Newly qualified Chartered Accountant
• 5 to 10 years of relevant accounting and reporting experience.
• Strong understanding of IFRS and accounting standards.
• Proficiency with Excel, Sage X3 Finance, and financial reporting tools.
• Excellent communication and analytical skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience in the retail or FMCG sectors.
