Our client, a well‑established engineering and manufacturing workshop in Denver (Jhb South), is seeking a reliable and experienced Accountant to manage the full accounting function. The ideal candidate will have a solid accounting qualification, strong bookkeeping/accounting experience (minimum 3 years), and the ability to work in a fast‑paced, technical environment.
This role supports the Production Manager / Workshop Foreman and ensures accurate financial controls, job costing, invoicing, and reporting.
Full Accounting Function — Manage daily accounting activities within a manufacturing/workshop environment
Bookkeeping Duties — Handle cashbook, journals, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance
Job Costing — Perform costing for machine repairs, workshop jobs, and new machine quotations
Invoicing — Issue invoices for completed jobs and ensure accurate billing
Quotations — Assist with costing and preparing quotations for new machines and repairs
Financial Reporting — Prepare monthly financial reports, summaries, and management information
Reconciliations — Perform bank, supplier, customer, and control account reconciliations
Debtors & Creditors — Manage accounts payable and receivable
Workshop Administration — Support workshop with job cards, costing sheets, and financial documentation
Compliance — Ensure financial processes comply with internal controls and audit requirements
Accounting qualification (Diploma, BCom, or similar)
Minimum 3 years’ experience as an Accountant or Bookkeeper
Experience in a manufacturing or engineering workshop environment (advantageous)
Strong job‑costing and invoicing ability
Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial controls
Proficient in accounting software and Excel
High attention to detail and accuracy
Strong organisational and administrative skills
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks
Reliable, professional, and able to work independently
