Job summary

Snatch Accounting & Finance Headhunters is seeking an Accountant to join its expanding finance team within an engineering environment. You will handle day-to-day financial accounting, banking, working capital, fixed assets and month-end processes under the Financial Manager and Financial Accountant.

You will contribute to invoicing, reconciliations, reporting and process improvements as the business grows into new markets.

Qualifications

• PA (SA), AGA (SA) or CGMA advantageous, including candidates nearing qualification.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Completed or nearly completed accounting articles would be advantageous, particularly within an accounting practice.
• Practical experience with bank reconciliations, journals, debtors, creditors and month-end accounting would be advantageous.
• Experience with an ERP or accounting system would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly customer invoices, billing schedules, and maintain debtor accounts.
• Process local and foreign supplier payments, reconcile bank accounts and manage credit card and petty cash transactions.
• Prepare debtors' and creditors' age analyses, monitor outstanding balances and reconcile customer and supplier accounts.
• Maintain the fixed asset register, process depreciation journals and administer capital expenditure requests.
• Prepare accruals, provisions and month-end journals, including allocated balance sheet reconciliations.
• Maintain supporting accounting schedules, assist with month-end reporting and contribute to improvements in financial processes and controls.

Broad accounting exposure in an expanding engineering business

An established engineering and industrial services business is looking for an Accountant to join its finance team. With the business expanding its services offering and entering new markets, this is an opportunity to develop broad commercial accounting experience within a growing operation.

Reporting to the Financial Manager, you will work closely with the Financial Accountant across day-to-day financial accounting, banking, working capital, fixed assets and month-end processes.

Key Responsibilities:
