Samaritan's Purse in Venezuela invites applications for a Shelter Program Manager to lead the Transitional Shelter program. The role focuses on planning, directing, staffing, and delivering project goals within budget and deadlines, while upholding organizational faith-based standards.

The position requires disaster response experience, a Bachelor's degree, and Spanish proficiency; engineering degree preferred. Travel is 30 days/year; full-time employment with benefits.

Formación

  • Spanish proficiency required (reading and writing).
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or equivalent; two or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Engineering degree preferred.
  • Experience with international construction management is preferred.
  • Previous disaster response experience is required.
  • Twelve credit hours of college-level Biblical studies are strongly preferred.

Responsabilidades

  • Plan, direct, and oversee the shelter program within budget and project deadlines, ensuring that all program goals are met through proper planning, staffing, and implementation.
  • Recruit, supervise, train, and appraise performance for program staff.
  • Organize, direct, and manage staff work.
  • Ensure program activities comply with Samaritan's Purse policies, standards, and regulations.
  • Manage budget within approved spending levels and ensure accurate and timely financial reports to management.
  • Submit timely, accurate, and professional program reports that meet standards and requirements.
  • Coordinate with government authorities, other humanitarian actors, community representatives, beneficiaries, contractors, and partners to align objectives and achievements.
  • Coordinate with internal sector leads and supporting departments for effective program implementation (WASH, protection, finance, procurement, logistics, security, HR, and HQ support).
  • Make regular visits to project field sites, provide staff support, address challenges, and explore future program possibilities.

We are seeking a Shelter Program Manager to join our Transitional Shelter team in Venezuela. Through humanitarian work, the goal and purpose of Samaritan's Purse are to help people in Jesus' name and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

In the role of Shelter Program Manager, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Maintain a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ.
  • Plan, direct, and oversee the shelter program within budget and project deadlines, ensuring that all program goals are met through proper planning, staffing, and implementation.
  • Recruit, supervise, train, and appraise performance for program staff. Organize, direct, and manage their work.
  • Ensure program activities comply with Samaritan's Purse policies, standards, and regulations.
  • Manage budget within approved spending levels and ensure accurate and timely financial reports to management.
  • Submit timely, accurate, and professional program reports that meet Samaritan's Purse standards and requirements.
  • Coordinate with relevant external stakeholders, including government authorities, other humanitarian actors, community representatives, beneficiaries, contractors, and Samaritan's Purse partners to ensure proper understanding and coordination of project objectives and achievements.
  • Coordinate with internal sectoral leads and supporting departments for effective program implementation including WASH, protection, finance, procurement, logistics, security, Human Resources, and International Headquarters support and regional teams.
  • Make regular visits to project field sites, providing staff support, addressing programmatic challenges, and exploring future program possibilities.
  • Other duties as assigned
What are the qualifications?

As a qualified candidate, you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Spanish proficiency (reading and writing) required.
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) or equivalent; two (2) or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
