Samaritan's Purse in Venezuela is seeking a WASH Lead to direct planning, design, and implementation of water, sanitation, drainage, and hygiene activities for the transitional shelter program.

You will oversee construction, commissioning, and operation of WASH infrastructure, supervise staff and contractors, ensure donor compliance and safety standards, and report on project performance for decision-making.

Formación

  • Spanish proficiency (reading and writing) required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or related field with a minimum of three years of experience in WASH design and construction management.
  • Moderate international experience with cross-cultural communication and ministry preferred.
  • Twelve credit hours of Biblical studies strongly preferred.

Responsabilidades

  • Lead planning, design, and engineering of water supply, sanitation, drainage, solid waste, and hygiene promotion for the transitional shelter project.
  • Manage construction and commissioning of WASH infrastructure, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to standards.
  • Oversee operation, maintenance, and improvement of WASH systems for reliable service delivery.
  • Supervise WASH staff and contractors, providing technical guidance and QA during implementation.
  • Ensure donor requirements and humanitarian standards are met.
  • Represent Samaritan's Purse in WASH coordination forums.
  • Monitor project performance and prepare technical reports for decision making and donor reporting.

We are seeking a WASH Lead to join our Transitional Shelter Program team in Venezuela. Through humanitarian work, the goal and purpose of Samaritan's Purse are to help people in Jesus' name and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

In the role of WASH Lead, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Maintain a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ
  • Lead the planning, design, and engineering of water supply, sanitation, drainage, solid waste, and hygiene promotion activities for the transitional shelter project.
  • Manage the construction and commissioning of WASH infrastructure, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with engineering standards and project specifications.
  • Oversee the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of WASH systems to ensure reliable service delivery.
  • Supervise WASH staff and contractors, providing technical guidance and quality assurance during project implementation.
  • Ensure compliance with donor requirements and humanitarian standards.
  • Represent Samaritan's Purse in relevant WASH coordination forums.
  • Monitor project performance and prepare technical reports to support decision making and donor reporting requirements.
  • Build the capacity of project staff and local stakeholders through training, mentoring, and the development of operation and maintenance procedures to support successful project handover and long-term ownership.
  • Other duties as assigned
What are the qualifications?

As a qualified candidate, you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Spanish proficiency (reading and writing) required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or a related field is required, with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in the design of WASH infrastructure and the management of construction projects; or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Moderate international experience with demonstrated success in cross-cultural communication and ministry is also preferred.
  • Twelve credit hours of college-level Biblical studies strongly preferred.
