commercetools is building a modern, integrated search experience for ecommerce customers. You’ll contribute to the Search Foundation and Discovery teams, delivering a fast, scalable search API for product discovery and robust retrieval across domains.

You’ll join at the retrieval layer from query understanding to vector indexing, tackling semantic and hybrid search challenges together with a globally distributed team.

Formación

• At least 5 years of experience as a Software Engineer with production JVM experience.
• Strong knowledge of REST APIs and scalable architectures (sharding, replication, load balancing, failover).
• Fluent English for work in international teams.

Responsabilidades

• Design and implement search functionalities in a PaaS ecommerce Scala backend
• Develop search capabilities that combine lexical, semantic, and hybrid retrieval
• Develop search-related libraries based on ElasticSearch and MongoDB
• Contribute to search relevance and quality, and how we measure it
• Run and maintain scalable search infrastructure as code on Kubernetes using Terraform and multi-tenant architecture
• Test components for usability, functionality, and performance with Product Management and DevOps
• Learn Scala and functional programming as a primary tool
• Participate in on-call rotation with a distributed team
