Airswift is seeking an Accounting Specialist to join our team in Venezuela on a permanent contract. You will support day-to-day accounting for our Venezuelan operations, recording entries, reconciling accounts, and ensuring timely financial documentation. The role works closely with the Senior Accountant and Coordinator, aiding monthly, quarterly and annual closings and supporting financial reporting. Previous Oil & Gas experience in Venezuela is preferred.

Formación

• University degree in Accounting from a Venezuelan university.
• Knowledge of IFRS and Venezuelan practices.
• Experience with general ledger, reconciliations, and closing.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and Excel.
• Spanish fluency required; English desirable.

Responsabilidades

Airswift is searching for an Accounting Specialist to work in a permanent contract in Venezuela with a company in the Technology and Energy sector. The Accounting Specialist will support the day-to-day accounting activities of the Company's Venezuelan operations, ensuring the accurate and timely recording, reconciliation, and documentation of financial transactions. The position will be responsible for maintaining accounting records, preparing routine journal entries and account reconciliations, supporting monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities, and maintaining the schedules and documentation required for financial reporting. Working closely with the Accounting Senior and Accounting Coordinator, the Accounting Specialist will contribute to the accuracy and integrity of financial information submitted for corporate reporting and consolidation. Previous accounting experience within the Oil & Gas industry in Venezuela is preferred.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Record and maintain accounting transactions in the general ledger—including routine entries, accruals, reclassifications, and adjustments assuring proper classification and documentation, as well as compliance with IFRS standards and corporate accounting policies.
• Prepare account reconciliations, investigate routine variances, and identify discrepancies, missing documentation, or control issues, escalating significant or complex matters to the Senior Accountant.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes by executing assigned tasks, preparing supporting schedules, performing account analyses, and organizing supporting documentation within established deadlines.
• Record and support accounting activities related to Oil & Gas operations in Venezuela, including OPEX, CAPEX, fixed assets, operating costs, and joint venture transactions, as applicable.
• Support the recording and reconciliation of intercompany transactions and balances—including those involving US and other entities—and assist in resolving identified variances.
• Coordinate with Accounts Payable, Treasury, Tax, and other finance functions to obtain and validate the information and documentation required for accurate accounting records.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• Degree in Accounting or a related field from a Venezuelan university.
• Knowledge of general accounting principles, general ledger, reconciliations, and financial closing processes.
• Knowledge of IFRS and Venezuelan accounting practices is desirable.
• Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
• Fluency in Spanish is mandatory; proficiency in English is desirable.
• Experience in accounting, preferably in multinational or complex corporate environments.
• Practical experience with journal entries, general ledger maintenance, account reconciliation, closing activities, and accounting documentation.
• Prior experience in the Oil & Gas sector is preferred, particularly with operations in Venezuela.
• Experience with ERP systems and supporting corporate or international financial reporting processes is desirable.
