Job summary

Zuern Building Products Inc. is seeking a Cabinetry Service Technician to join our cabinetry team.

This hands-on role serves homeowners, builders, and designers, evaluating service requests, identifying root causes, and delivering effective repairs and adjustments on Zuern cabinetry projects. The role requires a minimum of three years in cabinetry or finish carpentry, strong communication and problem-solving skills, and the ability to read drawings and measurements.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum three years of cabinetry, finish carpentry, millwork, remodeling, building materials, or related trade experience.
  • Experience troubleshooting cabinetry, millwork, or finish carpentry issues preferred.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, drawings, and measurements.
  • Ability to perform basic math and use measuring tools accurately.
  • Valid driver's license; forklift certification may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate cabinetry service requests and determine corrective actions within Zuern's scope.
  • Serve existing and new customer accounts by analyzing work orders and planning scheduling.
  • Inspect field conditions, identify root causes, and recommend practical solutions.
  • Perform cabinetry repairs, adjustments, and finish carpentry to restore quality.
  • Install or replace trim, panels, moldings, hardware, and other components as needed.
  • Order and gather cabinetry parts and materials for service work.
  • Take field measurements and communicate findings with designers and project teams.
  • Maintain professional rapport with customers and teams, documenting actions taken.
  • Assist showroom displays, cabinetry demonstrations, and showroom upkeep as needed.
  • Update knowledge across cabinetry product lines through ongoing education.
  • Assist Window Service team with shop projects when workload requires.

We are seeking a Cabinetry Service Technician to join our Cabinetry team. This hands-on role is ideal for a skilled problem-solver with cabinetry and finish carpentry experience who enjoys working directly with customers, identifying solutions, and delivering exceptional service.

The Cabinetry Service Technician is responsible for evaluating, troubleshooting, and resolving cabinetry service concerns related to Zuern cabinetry projects. This role serves as a field representative of Zuern, working closely with homeowners, builders, contractors, designers, and internal teams to identify root causes, recommend solutions, and complete repairs or adjustments as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • 1. Evaluate cabinetry service requests and determine appropriate corrective actions for issues within Zuern's scope of responsibility.
  • 2. Serve existing and new customer accounts by analyzing cabinetry work orders, planning daily travel schedules, investigating service concerns, and resolving issues.
  • 3. Inspect field conditions, identify root causes of cabinetry concerns, and recommend practical solutions.
  • 4. Perform cabinetry repairs, adjustments, modifications, and finish carpentry work to restore products to quality standards.
  • 5. Install or replace trim, fillers, panels, moldings, hardware, and other cabinetry components as required.
  • 6. Order and gather cabinetry components, materials, and replacement parts needed to complete service work.
  • 7. Perform cabinetry field measurements and communicate findings with cabinetry designers and project teams.
  • 8. Maintain professional rapport with customers and team members by addressing concerns, communicating expectations, and providing exceptional customer service.
  • 9. Document service actions, field findings, completed work, and customer interactions through forms, reports, logs, and records.
  • 10. Assist with showroom displays, cabinetry demonstrations, product organization, and showroom upkeep as needed.
  • 11. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities across all cabinetry product lines.
  • 12. Assist the Window Service team with shop projects including window mulling, jamb extensions, and other specialty modifications as workload and scheduling demands require.
Requirements
  1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  2. Minimum three years of experience in cabinetry, finish carpentry, millwork, remodeling, building materials, or a related trade; equivalent education, training, or experience will be considered.
  3. Experience troubleshooting and resolving cabinetry, millwork, or finish carpentry issues preferred.
  4. Strong customer service, communication, and conflict-resolution skills with the ability to professionally address customer concerns.
  5. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, solve problems, and exercise sound judgment with minimal supervision.
  6. Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, technical information, drawings, and field measurements.
  7. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and accurately use measuring tools, including tape measures and rulers.
  8. Working knowledge of power tools, hand tools, installation techniques, and finish carpentry practices.
  9. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  10. Reliable, detail-oriented, resourceful, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
  11. Forklift certification may be required.
  12. Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  13. Ability to bend, twist, kneel, climb, and perform physical work in residential, commercial, and shop environments.
  14. Ability to safely operate tools, equipment, and materials required to perform service, repair, and installation work.
