Job summary

Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) is seeking a Zoological Park Maintainer for Prospect Park Zoo to perform maintenance on buildings, equipment, and grounds under the Operations & Maintenance department.

The role includes performing repairs, preventive maintenance, and assisting with various trades while ensuring safety and adherence to regulatory requirements. Employment is full-time with union status, reporting to the Manager/Assistant Manager of Operations and Maintenance.

Qualifications

• Valid current driver’s license preferred.
• Knowledge of building maintenance procedures and safety precautions.
• Skill in using hand and power tools.
• Ability to read and follow assembly instructions.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance, repair, renovation and alteration of buildings, offices, exhibits, enclosures, paths, benches, sidewalks, equipment, structures, roofs, gutters, and other facilities and specialized work.
• Troubleshoot minor maintenance problems involving electrical, structural, plumbing, and equipment repair or replacement.
• Perform preventive building maintenance duties.
• May operate a vehicle or other equipment (e.g. forklift, tractor) in performance of work.
