Job summary

Lincoln Park Zoo is seeking a facilities maintenance professional to perform a range of tasks across buildings, exhibits and park infrastructure. The role involves working with wood, fiberglass, metal, and concrete, and coordinating with management on day-to-day work orders.

You will operate basic equipment, assist with exhibit projects, and ensure safety standards while delivering positive guest experiences. Heavy physical work and occasional after-hours events are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; training as needed.
• Minimum 2 years of actual construction/maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of basic construction materials and processes.
• Able to operate safety procedures in a public environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain fencing, fixtures, walkways, cement walls, roofing, and other infrastructure throughout the Zoo.
• Repair, restore, exhibits and create structures for animals.
• Assemble and install furniture and fixtures throughout the zoo.
• Operate basic maintenance on zoo vehicles (golf carts, gators, forklift, bobcats).
• Learn to safely operate forklift, bobcat, pallet jack and other equipment.
• Escort sub-contractors around the Zoo and communicate the overall vision of work.
• Perform interior and exterior maintenance of zoo buildings.
• Maintain the zoo signage and inventory/work order management.
