Job summary

Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago, IL is seeking a facilities technician to support the safety, cleanliness, and aesthetics of the park. You will work on a variety of maintenance projects across infrastructure, carpentry, masonry, roofing, and pond maintenance.

This role requires at least 2 years of construction/maintenance experience, a high school diploma, and the ability to work evenings or weekends for special events as needed. A valid Illinois driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; education/experience that provides required knowledge and abilities.
• Minimum 2 years of construction/maintenance experience.
• Working knowledge of basic construction materials and processes.
• Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and follow safety protocols.
• Basic computer literacy and strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain fencing, fixtures, walkways, cement walls, roofing and other zoo infrastructure.
• Assemble and install furniture and fixtures throughout the Zoo.
• Perform basic maintenance on zoo vehicles (golf carts, gators, forklifts, etc.).
• Complete interior and exterior maintenance of zoo buildings as needed.
• Perform related work and special projects as assigned by management.
