Job summary

iFab Tech Hub in Champaign County, IL seeks a Zoning Technician (Full Time, Non-Exempt) to serve as the initial contact for the public and to intake and preliminarily review permit applications under the Zoning Ordinance.

Responsibilities include staff at the service counter, handling inquiries by in-person, phone, and email, and preparing permit documents for signature. 3+ years of related experience/AA required.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in building construction, architecture or related field.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints and regulations.
• Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
• Strong presentation and communication skills with groups and contractors.
• Comfort with mathematics, fractions and percentages for practical use.

Responsibilities

• Staff the service counter and handle public inquiries.
• Intake and preliminary review of zoning permits and floodplain permits.
• Prepare and sign permit documents for the Zoning Administrator.
• Maintain permit files and process fee receipts.
• Attend ZBA meetings and transcribe minutes.
• Maintain official land use records and fee revenue deposits.
