Job summary

The City of Boca Raton is seeking a Zoning Officer to enforce the Code of Ordinances, review zoning applications, building permits, and licenses for compliance, and to perform on-site inspections. You will engage with the public, applicants, and professionals, and present findings to advisory boards and City Council.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in urban planning, engineering, architecture or related field.
• Minimum of one year experience applying land development regulations or code requirements in plan review.
• Criminal Background Check, Employment Verification, MVR Check, Drug and Alcohol Screen may be required.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and apply zoning regulations and land development codes under supervision.
• Review zoning applications, building permits, and business tax/licensing for compliance.
• Conduct on-site inspections and site-specific reviews of parcels for zoning compliance.
• Prepare reports, presentations, and staff recommendations for advisory boards and City Council.
• Serve as staff liaison to Community Appearance Board and support agenda preparation.
