Job summary

The City of Boca Raton seeks an Assistant Zoning Manager to lead complex zoning reviews, oversee a team of zoning staff, and ensure compliance with land development regulations. The role requires strong technical expertise, public-facing communication, and collaboration with City departments.

You will supervise zoning officers, coordinate with advisory boards, and act as FEMA CRS Coordinator, contributing to floodplain management and community planning initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Urban or Regional Planning required.
• Three years of professional planning experience, including zoning enforcement and LDR interpretation.
• Valid Florida driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Administer and enforce the City’s Code of Ordinances and Land Development Regulations.
• Oversee zoning review, building permits, and business tax submissions.
• Supervise Zoning Officers and Zoning Technicians; plan and assign work.
• Serve as CRS Coordinator and liaison to advisory boards and city officials.
• Prepare staff reports and present findings to boards and City Council.
• Conduct field inspections and provide technical guidance to applicants.
