Job summary
Desoto Group Inc is seeking a dedicated planning support professional to assist the Planning Manager with the administration of zoning and subdivision ordinances in DeSoto, Texas. The role includes coordinating the development review process, preparing plans and studies, and guiding developers and the public through the process.
The position requires a bachelor's degree in urban planning or a related field, five years of experience, and a valid driver’s license.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Urban Planning or related field.
- Five years of related work experience.
- AICP certification preferred.
- Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience.
- Valid Driver’s License.
Responsibilities
- Review Plats and Site Plans for conformance with the Zoning and Subdivision Ordinance, including writing comments and reviewing resubmittals.
- Write staff reports for zoning requests and plat applications and present cases to the Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council.
- Meet with developers, builders and the public to answer questions about the Zoning and Subdivision Ordinances and development process.
- Prepare plans and studies and amendments to the Zoning and Subdivision Ordinances and the Comprehensive Plan.
- Review Certificates of Occupancy to ensure requirements are met and contact applicants for information as needed.
- Perform other assigned duties.
